July 2009

Peggy Ann and Frank:

Thanks for all of your hospitality to my Norwegian friends. Between their first going to Ocean City, Maryland, their parking ticket,  their broken rental agreement, etc., the week could have started out and continued to be very rocky, BUT…  Frank thanks for all your assistance with their car rental. Sissel and Dag not only have fond memories of Ocean city because of you and your family but also a great impression on American Spirit and hospitality. As they say in Norway, tusen takk or a thousand thanks.

As we all know building bridges is pretty much what life is all about. I marvel at how your little house on the corner of 15th and Wesley had the pleasure this past week with our friends from Norway meeting folks from Spain, France, Georgia (Russia) and Moscow, all conversing with the ocean, friendship and smiles as their common bond.

Sissel and Dag had originally intended to spend their last week in Lancaster and Philadelphia, but changed their minds due to their obvious delight in Ocean City. Thanks for helping them to find another place. Again, tusen takk or a thousand thanks.

Our summer wouldn’t be complete without a week in Ocean City. Early morning runs on the boardwalk; Johnson’s caramel corn, Mack & Manco pizza, walks on the beach, Sunday services at the Ocean City Tabernacle; the beauty of the ocean and sky in late afternoon and evening; and simply sitting and relaxing on the front porch of Osborne’s Fairview Inn. What a joy to be part of Frank and Peggy Ann’s extended family; congratulations & happy “30th” anniversary to the Inn.

Warm and loving regards,

Gregory & Martha Schworm

Because of the increasing turmoil at home a few years back, I found it necessary to disappear for a few days alone. I landed on Osborne’s doorstep and spent the next few days in a total vegetative state. The “folks” sat and chatted and even invited me to a great rigatoni and salad supper with their son, Frankie. The rest of the weekend was spent walking miles on the beach every morning and miles on the boardwalk every evening. I read 2 books in 2 days and slept like the dead each night. I particularly enjoyed the night cap on the porch with Peggy Ann and Frank. Stress and tension melted away after this peaceful visit.

I just finished watching Megan’s wedding video with the family. Thanks for sharing- this will be our 10th summer knowing the Osborne’s- Happy 30th- Also celebrating my little Colorado evacuee- Dana Richard’s 15th birthday- her first trip to the Jersey shore- She’s totally amazed. Now I’ll never get rid of her- she also thinks you all are sweet. Thank you for making every vacation the best!

Thanks Osbornes! XOXO

September 3, 2002

Thank you for everything! Congratulations!

I have many fond memories of vacations in Ocean City, NJ. and have been fortunate enough to visit here since I was a teenager (I am now 48).  At that time we first started our yearly summer get-away here after realizing how peaceful, calm and family oriented Ocean City was compared to Wildwood, where we had always gone before that time.  Originally, my parents and sister and I stayed at the Oceanic Hotel with their great “American Plan”.  Daily breakfast and dinner were included in the weekly rates and the food was delicious. I especially remember the huge fish bowl goblets in which they served humongous ice cream sundaes.  We stayed at that hotel for a couple of years before it went out of business.  They probably couldn't afford to give away those delicious full couse meals anymore! We then stayed at the Impala motel for the next summer vacation. That was the first establishment we ever stayed at that had a swimming pool, which was no big deal because when you have direct access to the big, beautiful aquamarine Atlantic Ocean, who needs a swimming pool?  After my senior year in high school I found Osborne’s “Fairview” Inn advertised in the annual Ocean City Vacation Guide. I wanted to stay there as I really liked the location which was very close to the boardwalk, but past the noise and hoopla of the restaurants and shops. My friend and I made reservations for a week and I was hooked! I have been coming here every summer since and have seen so many major and minor improvements of this lovely Inn! My favorite room is on the top floor- Room 2! The room just feels like home to me after all these years! Well, my friend turned into my husband and we have a terrific son who will be 20 this year.  My son, Guy, and I especially love Room 2 and feel it is our 'home away from home''.  The wonderful Osborne family has been a joy to know. The entire family is so kind and makes us feel at home whenever we are here. I have also introduced this great vacation guest home and apartments to my parents and sister’s family and many friends. Born a Pisces, I truly love the ocean and feel it beckoning to me each summer.  I will come here to visit again and again and never tire of my summertime home.  I've seen many changes in both Osborne's Inn and Ocean City at large. I have so many fond, happy and sentimental memories deep in my heart that I will cherish forever.

Love,

Kay Chelius

Have stayed two years in a row at Osborne's Fairview Inn.  I am from the Philly area originally and live in the mountains of North Carolina currently.  All of my siblings remain in the Philadelphia area and many of them congregate in Ocean City the third week in June.  It has been a pleasure to stay at Osborne's and have my own space and bath yet be within steps of various family members who rent locations in the 15th street area.  Welcoming, clean, comfortable...and I hope to have more stays in the future.  Just returned from the most recent and I am having memories made at Osborne's!

We fell in love with Ocean City since our first stay, July 2008.  One day I contacted Osborne's Inn and spoke with Peggy Ann, and the rest is history.  From the first time we arrived you made us feel like family.  Tom and I look forward to seeing you and your family several times this season and spending relaxing evenings on the porch.  Your hospitality is unsurpassed. Osborne's Inn is truly a 'home away from home.'   Thank you.

Osborne's Fairview Inn to me is a Gateway to Heaven.  It us run by Peggy Ann Osborne who is one of the most loving, giving, and caring persons that I have ever met in my lifetime.  Along with her husband Frank, a great man of honor that stands out among men, they have made their home our home here in Ocean City, a place to come and enjoy in the fun and sun.  They, along with their family and hand-picked helpers, make your stay a wonderful experience something one so special that you cannot wait to return.

As an artist Peg has inspired me and has given me a chance to express myself throughout the Inn. For this I thank Peg and Frank with all my heart.  May God continue to bless us all as we go about doing the things that we are called to do.

It is always a joy to come and stay at your Inn.  We had not been to the shore for about 16 years when friends invited us to spend a weekend at a bed and breakfast.  We fell in love with Ocean City again.  We forgot how much we loved the shore.  That was probably 12 years ago.  We started coming back down the shore staying at B and B's.  Then one day we walked past your Inn, got a brochure, came back down, stayed at your Inn and are thrilled once again to have Ocean City an integral part of our vacation experience.

We have loved getting to know you and your Family over the years and always look forward to seeing you.  May the Lord bless you and your Family.

Lots of fun with you, Peggy Ann and Frank and all your guests.  The comings and goings and all the interesting stories that everyone seems to be able to share.  Lou and I had fun with lots of good people, good food and lots of relaxing.  Special Blessings to you both and your family.

Since 2004 I have rented your cottage by the sea.  It is a girls' weekend away   I spend it with my two daughters, Carrie and Hannah.  We leave the three brothers and daddy at home.  We enjoy our haven and especially have been honored to have the pleasure of knowing the Osborne family.  We are thankful to be able to spend time in Ocean City in our little cottage.  Thank you.
