'He Got the Job'

July 6, 2002

I have been coming to Ocean City for about thirteen years and would never think about another location for my beach vacation.   My family has been coming to Ocean City long before I was ever born.  They recently stopped coming here but I will carry on the family tradition with my soon-to-be-husband Brian and hopefully many of our children.  We began our “family adventure” three years ago at the Osborne’s Fairview Inn. That year we found out just how wonderful it is to stay here. I still laugh at the memory that keeps us rolling back here. My fiancé Brian had a job interview back in Buffalo on a Wednesday and if he didn’t show, he would not be eligible for the job. So like young adults, we moped around trying to come up with a solution.  Peggy Ann confronted us and asked why we had such long faces when we were on a beach vacation. So, to make a long story short, we told her our dilemna and she helped us look into “trains, planes, and automobiles” to get Brian to Buffalo for his interview. We finally decided to make the long seven and one half hour journey there and back in one day. Lucky for him HE GOT THE JOB and still has it to this day.  Peggy Ann made us feel like family and she saw us off in the morning and was there to greet us when we arrived “home”.  I could think of no other person to run such an establishment as a home, where everyone is considered family.  I can only hope they will be up and running when my children are grown.  I wish nothing but love and warm wishes to Peggy Ann and Frank (children, grandchildren, and Amstel Light) on celebrating their joyous thirty years in Ocean City. I know I will never stay anywhere else when I am visiting and will spread the word.

Good luck and God bless to the Osborne clan

Summer 2002

Ocean City has been our vacation spot for eight years. Five years ago our wonderful friends, the Zerbe’s, brought us to the Osborne’s. We were lucky enough to be able to vacation here with them. We love it here. Coming with friends makes it even more fun to do all the traditions we love (eating lunch on the beach, outside shower ( the kids especially love that ) surrey rides, parking the car for almost a whole week, no telephone, Smith’s clam bar, laughing on the boardwalk with friends, watching Peggy Ann and Frank’s grandkids along with ours. Thanks for all the memories.  We will never forget this place. Maybe our children’s children will come here someday! Here are some words from Olivia:  “One thing I remember about O.C. is the rides. We went into the Fun House and Elle came out crying because there are air holes that blow up air and it happened to be that Elle was looking down and the air hole blew up into her face.” (8 year old Olivia Wallace)

June 14, 2003

I first came to Ocean City in 1944. My father had joined the Navy,in which he was an air intelligence officer. We had joined him in Florida when he was unexpectedly sent overseas. We could not go home to Harrisburg, PA because our house was rented and housing was scarce, but my mother had a friend in Ocean City who found us a garage apartment.  That was during the time the German U-boats were operating in wolf packs off the coast, and we would occasionally see oil washed up on the beach, meaning something had sunk. Navy blimps were on anti-submarine patrol, and they came in low over the beach with sailors waving. They were waving to the girls of course, but being 12 years old, I didn’t know that, and I waved back.  Because of food being rationed, I fished for flounder.

I didn’t come to O.C. again for many years, mainly because I didn’t go on vacations (apart from 2 weeks a year with the Marine reserves), but when Mary and I were married in 1962 we had our honeymoon in O.C. We tried some other shore resorts but always came back to O.C.

For many years we stayed at Kate’s Ocean Breeze, and Jack and Anne became old friends, but when they sold and the house was subsequently demolished, we had difficulty finding a place where we felt at home.

We have only been to the Osborne’s Fairview Inn five times, but we have never found a place so cheerful and pleasant, both in the Inn itself and its owners.

Our children are no longer at home, but our son Mark and his family have become equally fond of the Inn, as is our younger daughter Tara, who is presently, however, vacationing in Ireland with her husband Frank. You are likely to see the McLaughlin’s in the near future.

I have been vacationing here at Osborne's Fairview Inn for about seventeen years.  Thanks to Peggy Ann and Frank and their family I have so many memories.  No matter what time of yeear or for how long I come to 'get away from it all' Peg always has something to say to take the tension away.  There has never been a time when I didn't feel like part of her 'Ocean City Family'.  I plan on coming here for as long as there is an 'Osborne's Inn'. Thanks to the Osborne's for making my vacation place an easy decision.

We have felt ourselves blessed in this place - not only by the Ocean City's sun, sand and water, but very especially bythe lovely friends we have met in this corner of 15th and Wesley.  Kathryn and Peggy Ann (capable, generous AND FUN) and the Franks2 (that's squared, but definitely not square)!  Love this town.

We have been vacationing at the Osborne's Fairview Inn for fifteen years now.  We have joined the tradition of the Carey clan of spending our summers in OCNJ.  We truly feel we've made wonderful memories for our children, having the chance to vacation with their cousins.  Thank you for making us all feel so welcome and at home.

We have been spending our summer vacation with the Osborne's for the last seventeen years.  We started when Ryan, our oldest was one.  Since then we've added another son, Kyle.  This year we brought my niece and nephew, Shanna and Shawn.  This is Shawn's first visit to the Jersey Shore.  We always enjoy a restful vacation with our extended family.

I have many wonderful memories of Ocean City, dating back to my teenage years when I first started to come down with one of my dearest friends. What a warm and friendly atmosphere was felt in this charming community! The peaceful sounds of the ocean waves, the wonderful salt air, beautiful moonlit skies reflect upon the ocean, fun evenings being on the boardwalk, sharing laughter, fun in the amusement parks, tanning on the beach, beautiful sunsets, dining out in the terrific restaurants.

It was about seven years ago that as a family, we were introduced to Osborne’s “Fairview” Inn through the recommendation of the Decembrino’s. They highly recommended it and shared their wonderful memories with us. We were so pleased to find such a charming, cozy Inn with a homey atmosphere and all the special extra nice touches that made us feel comfortable. From the first time we came and met you we felt the genuine warmth in your smiles and hugs. We have felt blessed to feel a closeness to your wonderful family and have enjoyed every summer we have spent here with you. We love coming here and look forward to seeing you every year. Thanks for all that you have done to make our vacations truly special times that have and continue to make such wonderful, treasured memories.

Lovingly,

Lou Ann, Barry, and Ashley Hause
